Our selfie was taken on the 2nd day of our 6 day walk from the source of the River Nene to the Wash in August 2018. My 10-year-old son Oscar and I were inspired to walk the whole river after seeing a performance of Benjamin Till's 'Nene' at the Derngate, Northampton. Our daughter Mabel sang in the choir and we were so moved by the music that we wanted to share the experiences that had inspired the composer. That evening, in Fotheringhay, we camped by the river at Castle Farm and woke up to 'blackbirds and thrushes singing early in the morning' - a memorable line from the performance.

The photo was taken at Fourteen Arches Viaduct which crosses the River Nene at Chester Farm near Irchester.
